Tonic Version 4.11

Enhanced Payment Flexibility & Key Improvements

What’s New: Enhanced tip handling, smoother card reader performance, and targeted fixes to streamline your daily operations.

Smarter & More Flexible Payment Processing:

Refined Tip Authorization Logic: FOH now handles large tips more intelligently. Incremental authorizations are triggered only when tips exceed 20% of the original amount—helping reduce authorization fees and minimizing duplicate charges.
New Payment Mode Options: Restaurants can now choose between Pre-Authorization and Sale/Adjust workflows for regular card payments (bar tabs remain pre-authorized). Available for both Datacap and Dejavoo integrations.
Clearer Tip Decline Feedback (Datacap): Front-of-house staff will now see more specific messaging when a tip can't be fully captured due to insufficient funds or other issues.
Suggestive Tip Prompts (Datacap): Prompt guests with suggested tip amounts on supported terminals—helping speed up checkout and improve tipping outcomes.
Dejavoo Spin Device Enhancements: Full support for PreAuth/Capture now extends to Spin countertop devices, offering a consistent experience across hardware.

Enhanced Hardware Compatibility:

Headless Reader Support (Datacap): Improved performance and error handling when using compact, screenless readers. Smoother feedback during checkout.

Operational Fixes & Usability Enhancements:

Inventory Accuracy at Order Entry: FOH now properly prevents items from being ordered above available quantity, even when using the "+" or "duplicate" buttons.
Gift Card Activation (P8): Fixed swipe icon and activation flow for gift cards on Dejavoo P8 devices.
Screen Flicker Fixes: Reports like Hourly Sales and Labor Cost now load without visual flicker.
Cash Out Report Labels: User names are now correctly displayed in FOH cash management reports, instead of defaulting to "CASH DRAWER."

Important Stability Update for Tonic POS

We've released a targeted stability update for Tonic POS to address critical issues affecting daily operations for some restaurants.

Key Improvements in this Update:

Enhanced Store Closing Reliability: Resolved an issue that, in some instances, could prevent restaurants from completing their end-of-day store close procedures due to data synchronization errors. This fix ensures smoother and more dependable end-of-day processing.
Payment Workflow Correction: Addressed a specific issue related to initiating bar tabs on certain Datacap A35 payment devices, restoring the expected card input workflow.

We recommend that all Tonic POS users plan to update to Tonic POS version 4.09 to benefit from these important stability improvements and ensure the continued smooth operation of your system.
